Full-Time Course in Peace and Conflict Work

From: Monday, 20 March 2017

To: Thursday, 25. May 2017

Location: Arbeitnehmer-Zentrum Königswinter (AZK)

The aim of this course is to acquire fundamental skills to be deployed in international peace and conflict work. It is as much about relevant specialised knowledge as it is about acquiring and practising appropriate and well-tried methods and skills. The consolidation of the participants’ sense of self and the work on their own attitude of nonviolence, as well as how these elements shape communication and behaviour are likewise topics of relevance in the course.

Key components are teaching a suitably complex, theoretical and practical basic understanding of peacebuilding work. This includes clarifying the key terms of civil conflict transformation, as well as gaining a deeper understanding of how one’s own role and attitude affect this specialist work.

The course builds on participants' prior experience and knowledge from overseas projects in civil conflict transformation, development cooperation or related fields.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive the “Peace and Conflict Consultant” certificate. This provides them with the necessary qualifications for deployment in a Civil Peace Service project, among other possibilities.

Target group

People who (want to) work in the field of civil conflict transformation or conflict-sensitive development cooperation and already have relevant overseas work experience.

How to register:

You can register for our courses online only. After completing the online registration form, you will be invited to a skype interview within a month. The interview focus on the applicants' qualifications and work experience, as well as their motivation for applying.

In case you are undecided whether to apply or not, we offer a weekend orientation seminar on “Peace work as a profession”.
